My statement from my time at the Mokovec Farm – Aleksy Maciejewski.
My stay at farm Makovec has really impacted me in a lot of ways, from seeing how a community dynamic can lead to greater and fairer cooperation, to experiencing new connections with nature through different ways.
Spending time at the alternative farm reshaped how I think about daily choices and their long-term impact. Participating in sustainable farming practices such as composting, planting, and caring for the soil allowed in depth reflection how everything that one consumes and produces can be reshaped into a more sustainable. As composting most of the byproduct of food and paper waste really showed how destructive and everlasting plastic is, as that was the only waste product that could not be recycled, reused, repurposed or composted.
Helping with building projects using reclaimed and natural materials reinforced the same lesson: sustainability is as much about mindset as technique. Every task emphasized cooperation with the land, with others, and with available resources. By the end of the experience, I felt more grounded and aware of how thoughtful practices can create systems that are both productive and respectful. The farm wasn’t just a place of work, but a living example of how intentional living can foster balance between humans and the environment.
